God's Guidance in Your Life

A correct understanding of God is essential because it forms how we live as disciples of Christ. For instance, if we think He is concerned only about the church issues, we won’t pray about our daily concerns or the big events of society. If our view of God is established in the Scriptures, we’ll seek His guidance, knowing that He cares about every aspect of our lives.

One of the greatest tragedies is when we are so determined to get what we want that we don’t even ask for God’s direction. Instead, we go ahead, thinking that He will bless our decision. But the Lord does not necessary bless all of our decisions or prevent us from doing certain things.

We should learn from King David. He wrote, “I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken” (Psalms 16:8). Our Father in heaven has provided everything we need to live wisely through His Word and His Spirit. As disciples of Christ, we should learn the way of the Lord and seek to bring glory to God by seeking His guidance in every area of life.

The Lord is certainly willing to guide us through our decision-making process because He has plans and purposes for us. However, we must take time to pay attention to the teaching of God's Word and to the voice of His Spirit, who is our helper, teacher, and guide. Then we can say with David, “I will bless the Lord who has counseled me” (Psalm 16:7).

May the Lord guide you every day of your life.
