Set my People Free
“If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32)
These have been the words that I have been hearing God saying about Christ Church. The Lord is doing a new thing, an amazing thing. And, like all the new things, the old has to be left behind, even before the thing is revealed. "Behold, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert" (Isaiah 43:19)
God wants to set you free and create you to be the person that He has created you to be. This is only possible when the truth will hold you day-by-day. Be assured, the Lord wants to increase His harvest in Exmouth, bring unity, and restore the fractured, wounded and power-starved church. God is recreating a new heart in His people. This is a time to rejoice and open our expectations to the things of the Spirit. "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh" (Ezekiel 36:26)
You may ask, what is the truth? Truth is not something we know; it is something we live. Jesus reminds us that we must not only know His teaching but also obey it. However, obedience is one of the proofs of our discipleship and the doorway to freedom and truth. What we believe is seen in how we walk and face life. This is the reason why the Lord desires to minister in our lives and make us anew. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come" (2 Corinthians 5:17).
This is why I invite you to seek the Lord. Take time to read, meditate and study the Bible. Pray with a prayer partner, as you share life together. Consider joining a homegroup this autumn. Seek guidance and help when you find life hard and if you consider that you need further help, please come to the Leadership Team. We are here to help you on your journey.
I want to share with you that I have taken the first steps to creating a Preachers' Club at Christ Church. I have started small with only a few people, but others will be invited in the autumn. At the same time, I will be taking a couple of weeks away from the Pulpit to write down in book format the teaching of the last two series. I have invited three people to preach during that time. I am sure that the Lord will use them in such an amazing way.
Let me end today saying a big thanks to Christ Church for making the Induction Service such a special occasion for our life together, not only for us as a family, but for Exmouth and the church in this town. Please, continue praying for wisdom as I lead Christ Church to the place that the Lord wants us to be together as His people in Exmouth.
Sincerely yours in Christ
Bishop Josep Rossello, CCE Minister
