Let Your Light Shine

“You are the light of the world… Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which his in heaven” – Matthew 5:14,16

On Sunday, we sang a song that reminds us of shining for Jesus. I was blessed when I learnt that the children ministries are called “Shine”. When lost people see Christ’s light shining through us, they will take notice. As we yield to Jesus and He lives His life through us, we prove to the world that our faith is real and that Christ really does possess the power to transform a broken life into a life of immense beauty.

There is no greater witness than a Christian, reflecting the light of the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no more powerful testimony than a life which displays the proof of His presence through the fruit of the Spirit, “love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23). As a lost world sees the difference Jesus Christ makes in our lives, God is honoured and glorified.

Our testimony is about a great God who loves us and saved us when we deserved condemnation instead. Our purpose is not to make people look at what we do and say, but we do want them to see us and say, “they must serve an awesome, loving, gracious, faithful, trustworthy, powerful, and sovereign God and I would like to know Him too!”

As I explained during our Sunday Open Conversation, the Church Council has opened the door to hire a part-time Church Administrator and, also, an Intern to work with the Youth and Children. This is a positive step to simplify the administrative role at Christ Church and to release various people to follow their ministry calling within our church family. The church finances are improving regularly, and the Lord has blessed Christ Church with an increase in attendance in the last few months. For your information, ASA (Available Sunday Attendance) was 42 adults and, so far for 2019, it has been 56 adults if we count the month of August.

I believe the Church Administrator and Intern will help us to move forward to fulfil God’s Vision for our church family. We are currently finalising the job description for the Church Administrator’s position. The Intern will most likely come through the South West Youth Ministry (SWYM) and we hope to share this post with the ICE Project (Open Door). Thank you for your support at the Open Conversation.

Please, pray with me that the Lord brings the right candidates for these positions. Also, I invite you to pray for the new series of sermons that I will be preaching from September on the book of Romans. I am looking to sharing with you all that I am learning from this amazing book.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Bishop Josep Rossello, CCE Minister
