A Pause in the Journey

"Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint" - Isaiah 40:30-31

All journeys of life require time to rest before re-starting the journey again. Resting helps us to consider if we are walking in the right direction or how long it will take us to arrive at our destination.

I believe this semester is a unique semester in our church family. Many of you have worked hard and long to keep church life happening. This is a beautiful story of love and service. It has taken time to get to know the church since my arrival. I have taken time to pray and think before taking any decision. It has been good to give time to rest to various leaders and helpers to regain strength. Other leaders have begun to feel free to let me know that there are areas that they no longer wish to serve in at the moment. It is important that each one of you feels free to serve the Lord, in whichever way you are called by God and in whichever area of our church’s life. Don't feel you have to do it out of duty but let the Lord guide you.

I believe the Church Administration position will fulfil many of the functions that put pressure on people’s time presently. Having the Administrator in place may perhaps release people from a ‘duty’, to the call in their life. This is why I would like to ask if you will be pray for the appointment of the Church Administrator in the coming months.

Christ Church has grown considerably in the last six months. There is a need for new Home Groups. Thus, I have asked the Leadership Team to identify and recognise those who could lead such groups, in addition, some of the present Home Group leaders have explained that they do not feel that they can lead their groups this semester. After praying and consulting, I believe that home groups do need a longer break after the summer. I will be inviting each of the home groups to a meal at my house in the coming months. This will help us to share fellowship together; and instead of meeting in a home twice a month, I am inviting all of the church family to come to the church on Tuesday evenings to a Bible Class focusing on Genesis. This will start on Tuesday, 15th October. I believe it will be a great opportunity to come together as a church family. Please, see further information on the flyer.

Let us not forget that we still have three Prayer Meetings. Every week on Thursday as well as online on a Monday evening and twice a month on Sunday evenings.

All that we do at Christ Church should be to fulfil the vision given by God, as we seek to fulfil our commitments as a follower of Jesus. We must be thankful to the Lord for a clear vision. Our new logo expresses visually what the Vision is. If you have not seen yet the new logo and the explanation of the same; please, take a minute to visit the following link: https://bit.ly/2mi0Vkd

This weeks newsletter is full of new projects that we have on our minds to reach out to Exmouth and equip God's people for the journey. Don't feel that you must come to everything, but please come and be part of this amazing journey.

Let me finish with a verse that has spoken to me a lot in the last few days, "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me" (Psalm 51:10-12).

Every blessing for a wonderful week ahead

Bishop Josep Rossello, CCE Minister
