Enter into God’s rest

“For we who have believed enter that rest, as he has said, "As I swore in my wrath, 'They shall not enter my rest,'" although his works were finished from the foundation of the world” (Hebrews 4:3 ESV)

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to pray weekly for all the people in the directory. I have prayed and asked God to bring blessings and encouragement to every person. Christ Church has been doing marvellous work, but this has come at a price as some people feel exhausted. Thus, it is time to rest in His grace and let the Spirit flow through us. (Matthew 11:28)

In Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” In this, we find a great bible verse that says we’re saved by grace through faith. We work out our relationship with God and His plans for our lives in the same way that we receive salvation, by grace through faith. This is possible because Jesus made the perfect sacrifice for us when He gave His life, taking our guilt and condemnation and paying for our sins. Through a personal relationship with Jesus, we access God’s grace so we can do what He’s calling us to do.

When we try to do everything in our own strength and leave God out of the equation, we just get worn-out and frustrated by our mistakes and failures. But when we lean on God, we actually enter into His rest and can enjoy our lives, no matter what our circumstances may be (Psalm 62:1-2). It takes time, but you can trust the Lord.

Repentance brings forgiveness, faith brings favour, and resting brings renewal. This is grace, God gives us His Son and sends His Spirit for everything we need in life. Trust God’s grace for you today (Psalm 116:7), as you come to the Cross for forgiveness and renewal. Sit at his feet and give Him all of your burdens and concerns. He is next to you.

Rest in His presence. Praise God for providing you with peace and rest and being the Source of Strength. Let us draw near to Him and rest in His holy presence! Just take a time to be renewed by the Holy Spirit and hear His voice. He is near you.

May the Lord bless you this week and bring rest into your soul.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Bishop Josep Rossello, CCE Minister
